Poprad Kráľova Hoľa
single steel tube
High power DVB-T transmitter and radio transmitter
The peak is the highest point of the eastern part of the Low Tatras. It is a very popular point of peak hiking towards Čertovica. It rises above the village of Šumiac.
The previous construction before the transmitter itself was put into operation in 1960. It was the transmitter with highest altitude in Central Europe with analogue television and radio. As the only transmitter, the antennas of radio stations are protected from icing by a laminate cover. This cover makes the antennas not visible on the mast.
Thanks to its high position, almost 2000 meters above sea level, the transmitter covers a quarter of Slovakia’s territory with a good quality signal.
